Apollo was a Kawahara brand distributed in Canada by Fred Deeley Cycles. The build date for this lovely example as shown in the stamping on the seat tube was December 1980. The bike is in A-1 condition with chromed forks and stays. It rides very smoothly, with shifting easily switchable between friction and index, depending on your preference. It has 12 gears, with the two front chain rings measuring 52 and 38 teeth, and the six on the rear freewheel ranging from 14 to 28 teeth. Weight is light at 24 pounds. The frame is Tange chrome molybdenum steel, Champion No. 2. Seat tube length is approximately 57 cm. The Schwalbe 700 x 28C tires are in excellent condition as are the Araya rims. The saddle is a Serfas Rx in new condition. This classic bike is a head-turner that attracts many admiring comments and remains eminently usable. Certainly the smoothest ride I’ve experienced over many decades of cycling.
