Care aide

We are looking for a reliable, kind, and compassionate person to help with cooking, cleaning, running errands, driving, and assisting a wheelchair user with various outdoor activities at our home in Lake Cowichan. The position pays $29/hour 4.5 hours/day with some flexibility. Evening and holiday work is required. Duties include: -Cooking daily meals according to dietary restrictions -Household cleaning -Grocery shopping -Picking up mail and prescriptions -Assisting with household tasks as needed -Driving and assisting on outings -Accompanying and assisting with carrying gear/supporting wheelchair user during outdoor activities including fishing and gardening Qualities/experience needed: -Live in/near Lake Cowichan or be willing to commute -Experience working as a care-aide/cleaner/cook or similar -Kind, empathetic, caring personality -A good fit with our household -Comfortable helping and understanding of someone with chronic illness -Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks independently -Able to follow directions both written and verbal -Must like dogs and be comfortable with a big, friendly retired medical assistance dog -Enjoy cooking and able to follow strict dietary restrictions -Knowledge of household cleaning, familiarity with non-toxic cleaning products is an asset -Physically fit, able to lift at least 50lbs -Reliable transportation to and from work -Valid driver's license and clear driving abstract -Must be legally able to work in Canada and be able to provide good references -Clear criminal record -Non-smoker and willing to comply with scent free workplace rules To apply please send your resume and cover letter to: getwelljl@gmail.com
