We bought both of these bikes brand new and they have taken us to some marvellous places. We’ve done backcountry touring in Canada, the US, and Mexico. We’ve finally accepted the fact that we’re a couple of seniors and too old to do this kind of riding safely anymore. It’s time for someone else to carry on without us. We’ve owned a lot of different street bikes over the years but the KLRs are the ones that we’ve been loath to let go. These bikes are the older version of the KLR which means that all the flaws in the original design are a known item. We upgraded all the important ones within 2 years of buying these bikes. They’ve been carefully maintained and have always run reliably wherever we have gone. 1999 has 43K km. & 2001 has 37K km Doo-Hickey replaced (engine chain tension balancer) Carburettors were dismantled and cleaned in an ultrasonic tank this month heated grips Oversize front disc brake Acerbis Hand Guards Fork brace Progressive fork springs MSR engine guard skid plate Steel brake lines Mirror mount upgrade Luggage racks handlebar vibration dampener Proper lowering kit on 2001 bike (including side-stand) Custom seat on 1999 bike New battery on 1999 bike
