This is an excellent starter DSLR camera body for beginners wanting to learn photography and still obtain high quality images.   While our phone cameras are all 20 megapixel and up, that's because the lenses are tiny and limited compared to a true camera lens.   5 megapixels is enough to produce sharp 8x10 prints.   This camera is 12 megapixel so has more than enough pixel resolution.   Produces both pictures and video.   Body only.
