Production Technician – CNC Job Shop & Cabinetry reporting to Production manager Other titles in the industry used for this position are: CNC Operator Cabinetmaker Joiner Production Millworker Furniture Maker Millwork Specialist Wood Manufacturing Technician Job Summary: Production technicians are responsible for executing daily tasks in a CNC and woodworking environment, supporting smooth and efficient shop operations. This role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, teamwork, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. Production Technicians follow SOPs, create and edit CAD & CAM files, operate machinery and tools safely, assist with material handling and assembly, and contribute to the overall productivity and quality of the shop’s output. Key Responsibilities Production Execution & Efficiency Have a high level of competency in a CNC/ woodworking shop environment. Operate CNC routers and woodworking equipment safely and efficiently, using CAD & CAM programs provided. Follow daily production schedules as assigned by the Production Manager to meet project timelines and maintain quality standards. Communicate promptly with the Production Manager if delays, issues, or unclear instructions arise during production. Seek mastery and efficiency in tasks with repetition, pursue growth and new skills when given challenging work. Express your creativity in problem solving and novel process improvements. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Follow all established SOPs for equipment use, materials handling, and workflow processes. Participate in SOP improvement discussions by providing feedback from hands-on experience. Adapt to new tools, equipment, or workflow changes as introduced by the Production Manager, including attending hands-on training sessions as required. Safety & Compliance Prioritize safety in every task and lead by example in the proper use of PPE and safe operating procedures. Only operate tools and equipment you are trained and authorized to use. Request training when needed. Participate in regular safety reviews, toolbox talks, and inspections. Maintain awareness of air quality and shop conditions, reporting any concerns to the Production Manager. Keep personal work areas clean and free of hazards; assist with shared shop cleanliness tasks. Team Participation & Communication Stay organized and prepared by understanding your assigned tasks and responsibilities each day. Ask questions when unclear about a task or process to avoid delays or errors. Support a respectful, team-oriented environment by collaborating effectively with coworkers. Maintain a professional attitude and contribute to a positive workplace culture. Reporting & Communication Inform the Production Manager of job progress, roadblocks, or supply/tool needs in a timely manner. Accurately report time, material use, or project notes as required for job tracking. Report any incidents involving tools, equipment, or materials (e.g., breakage, damage, safety issues) to the Production Manager. ____________________________________________________________________________ Qualifications: Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education in manufacturing, woodworking, or related fields (preferred). 5-15 years in woodworking, CNC machining, cabinetry production, or a related industry. Occupational First Aid Level 1. Valid Forklift Licence. Valid Driver’s Licence. Technical Skills Proficiency in operating CNC routers and woodworking equipment. Strong proficiency with Windows operating systems. Familiarity with productivity and task management software, such as Click Up. Ability to adapt to new software quickly. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360, Aspire, and Mozaik). Knowledge of woodworking techniques, cabinetry construction, and material properties. Ability to safely make noise, dust, and use machinery in a production environment. Work Schedule: Full-time position, with flexibility for occasional overtime to meet production deadlines. Weekdays, Monday to Friday. Daily: 2 paid 15 min breaks and 30 min unpaid lunch. Pay: $24- $32 per hour. Depending on skill set.
