The painting is a well executed portrait of the late famous Lakota chief American Horse. Chief American Horse or Wašíčuŋ Tȟašúŋke (He-Has-A-White-Man's-Horse) was an Oglala Lakota chief, statesman, educator and historian. American Horse is notable in American history as a U.S. Army Indian Scout and a progressive Oglala Lakota leader who promoted friendly associations with whites and education for his people. This large framed canvas measures approximately 43.25 inches in height x 37.25 inches in width. The painting presents very nicely and is in excellent condition and ready to hang.
