Classic car mechanic WANTED

We're looking to add an amazing mechanic to our team here at G.A.S.! As you may know, G.A.S. is a local enthusiast based repair and resurrection shop in the greater Victoria area. Our tight knit group has taken our passion for classic vehicles and turned it into a commitment to serve the local car community with great service and a high level of knowledge, and we are excited to be expanding our team! Job Requirements: Although a Red Seal certification is preferred, it is not necessary (There are no positions available for apprentices at this time). Great communications skills, and the ability to work closely with a team. Keeping a clean and organized work space, and the ability to organize shop space, equipment and parts without constant direction. Good computer skills are required for this position, as all scheduling, note taking and billing is done over a web based system. Be physically fit, and able to lift heavy and/or awkward objects in and around vehicles or the shop. Have a valid driver’s license. Skill Requirements: The mechanic in this role must have a high level of experience with 1980s and older cars and trucks, including both domestic and import vehicles of the classic nature. Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills will be required. An understanding of both factory and aftermarket carburetors of various types and ignition systems (both points and electronic) present in classic cars. A high level of finesse, to be effective working on restoration projects. A strong understanding of wiring is required. From diagnosis and repair, to full wiring harness replacement (both with kits and from scratch). Welding and fabrication skills are recommended. Strategic thinking and the ability to make real time decisions to benefit the execution of projects, relating to their timelines and budget expectations.
