Editor available for documents written in English. I’m Canadian, native English speaker with BA and MFA degrees, with a lot of writing in each, more than 8 years of experience as editor of English documents, and 12 years of experience teaching English in 9 countries. I call Victoria home, but am living in France, in a small, Medieval city between Toulouse and Andorra. Based on my visa, do not have the right to work in France, so I am available to edit documents in English outside France, especially in Canada. I know French at an intermediate level, if that might help you. I learned French in France. Between languages, I can work well from French to English, or somewhat but not at a high level from English to French. My MFA is in theatre, my thesis written in MLA style. I have a broad range of interests, and am well versed in humanities. Will gladly consider books. I’ve edited two books, one a young woman’s “coming of age” novel, the second, a brilliant sci-fi novel – and if that author reads this and recognizes me (Nanaimo, Edmonton, ring a bell?), I want “you” to write to me about suggestions for your sequels – and I am now in the middle of editing “a gripping autobiography!” – not at all joking about that. In Taiwan I worked for a company editing academic papers for publication in scientific and medical journals. In Japan and Canada, I worked a lot with documents for university applications, letters of intention, that kind of thing. In Japan, I edited documents in English for five branches of the Government of Japan for publications in English for their international market, and for the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), which I especially enjoyed. I have general guidelines for my reasonable fees, and am social enough to be able to be accommodating about how we work together. I’ll work with “track changes” if you like. I’ll consider editing anything, but might need discussion about details before I accept your project. It’s your work, so you’ll make the final decisions, but about details, I’ll tell you my honest opinions and explain my logic. My bank account is in Canada, so I can accept e-transfer payments directly into my Canadian account. I very much like communication, and spend a lot of time at the computer, so there should never be much of a delay with communication on my end.
