A very old framed print of dory boats & seagulls in Gloucester Harbour by acclaimed artist, naval painter & illustrator, James Milton Sessions (1882-1962). It’s been reproduced on a very high quality textured & heavy paper. “Born in New York in 1882, artist James Milton Sessions specialized in maritime and military themes, outdoor genres, sport fishing, and commercial illustration. Many of James Milton Sessions' prints are reproduced from his watercolors, a medium in which he displayed his mastery of vibrant contrasts and action-filled compositions. Throughout World War II, James Milton Sessions' prints and illustrations appeared in many major publications, documenting both the European and Pacific theaters of war. His so-called brush reporting played a role in the American understanding of pivotal battles. James Milton Sessions' painting prices were affected by his destruction of much of his own work, shortly prior to his death in 1962. Some of his remaining originals can be found in the Art Institute of Chicago and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.” - Invaluable Auctions Measures 27.5”w x 22”h Glass and art are in excellent condition. The frame is slightly chippy which adds to its vintage appearance. {Pick up in Oak Bay}
