Caregiver (Personal Support Worker) - SID01MBB

A 79 years old woman with ME/CFS and MCS needs a trained care aide or nurse 2 to 3 times for a total of 8-12hours a week . It’s important to bring your own vehicle. The client also has other issues: deafness in one ear, food sensitivities, gallbladder stones, and hiatus hernia challenges. She is a writer and a poet. Her poetry Chapbooks are on Amazon. She also hosts Facebook groups and she would like to return to coaching. She used to be a creativity coach via email and is hoping to start coaching again. In the past, she was the coordinator of a Pastoral Care team. Her main interest is reading Cozy Mysteries and her dream is to write a series of Cozy Mysteries. Location: - Sidney (Near Lochside Waterfront Park) Shifts: - Permanent Part Time - 3 shifts per week - Shift time: 11AM - 3PM (4hours) Responsibilities: - Some jobs are done from your home: - Emails, phone calls - Help with decision-making and food prep - A few of these tasks may be included in your time in the woman’s home: - Cut veggies and put them in a pan - Wash dishes and put them in the dish drainer or the DW - Prepare two mugs of hot water (for beet chicken bone broth and peppermint tea) - Make a smoothie (Hemp yogurt, Avocado, and frozen Peach/Mango) - Help the woman move from bed to outside deck lounge. She can use a cane inside and a walker outside. - Walk with her down the driveway - When she improves a little, drive her to lab or dentist - Clean air purifier - Provide back massage (small amount) - Change bed sheets Wages: - $28 per hour - Also based on maturity, training, and experience Required Qualifications: - Driver's license and a scent-free vehicle is required - Candidate must be scent-free (uses natural scent-free laundry products) - Someone who is quiet and understands interaction challenges - Able to read task lists without lot of questions - Must adhere to a fragrance-free environment - Be able to communicate through email Asset: - Knowledgeable about ME/CFS and MCS - Familiar with clients who have brain injury, chemical sensitivity and extreme fatigue - Caregiving experience If you are interested in this position and meet all the required qualifications, please apply directly to this job posting.
