Job description SUMMARY Performs supervisory responsibilities for managing a skilled cabinet shop where individuals handle the construction, refinishing, repair, and installation of tables, desks, cabinets, chairs, shelving, bookcases, architectural millwork and other related work. This individual is responsible for planning, supervising, and assigning the work of employees engaged in carpentry and cabinet work for all types of wooden furniture and equipment. Work also includes personal participation as a master craftsman. Work is performed under general direction of an administrative superior and is reviewed through discussions and inspection of completed work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plans, lays out, and supervises all work of the cabinet shop; advises carpenters on solution of problems relating to cabinet making and carpentry repairs. Assigns subordinate personnel to work details and inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure that it meets required standards; inspects items reported to be in need of repair; estimates time and materials for work to be built, repaired, and refinished. Supervises the operation and maintenance of woodworking machines including table saws, planers, jointers, CNC machine, drill presses, and other machines and tools used to cut, shape, and assemble parts from stock. Recruits and trains personnel in the safe operation of equipment and tools. Enforces safety regulations, rules, and working conditions. Job Types: Full-time, Contract
