Victoria Women In Need Community Cooperative (WIN) is a non-profit community service cooperative that provides programs to support women, trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people along their journey between crisis, self-sufficiency, and wellness. This is a hands-on position that is responsible for: • Greeting customers respectfully and kindly, providing a reassuring and consistent presence at the shop entrance. • Taking an active role in maintaining a positive, respectful and cooperative retail and team working environment that is inclusive, supportive and safe. • Providing assistance and information to customers and program participants, and helping them to locate merchandise. • Ensuring that challenging customer service situations are dealt with in a calm, respectful and appropriate manner. Skills required: • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, as well as high levels of patience and professionalism. • Leadership abilities, and able to remain calm in challenging situations, as well as diffuse high-energy situations when needed • Able to multi-task, problem-solve, take initiative, anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take appropriate actions. • Resourceful, positive attitude, and an excellent communicator. • Capable of assessing situations and acting quickly to resolve issues and seek additional support when needed. Education / Qualifications / Experience: • Recent related work or volunteer experience in community social services and ability to communicate and coordinate with the Program Coordinator as needed. • Demonstrated awareness of community resources, programs, and community development methods. • Demonstrated knowledge of cultural sensitivity and cultural competency. • Mental health and addictions training would be an asset. • Knowledge of issues relating to poverty and building community support would be an asset. • Valid First Aid Certificate (or willing to train).
