Job Description Tasks: Material Handling: Assist in the loading and unloading of roofing materials, tools, and equipment at the job site. Transport materials to the appropriate location on the roof. Site Preparation: Prepare the work area by clearing debris, setting up safety barriers, and ensuring the area is safe and accessible for roofing tasks. Tools and Equipment: Maintain and organize roofing tools and equipment. Hand tools, ladders, safety harnesses, and power tools are commonly used in roofing projects. Roofing Installation: Support roofers in installing various roofing materials, such as shingles, tiles, metal sheets, or other roofing systems, based on project specifications. Tear-off and Disposal: Participate in the removal of old or damaged roofing materials (tear-off) and ensure proper disposal of debris. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and other team members. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Repair and Maintenance: Assist in repairing and maintaining existing roofs, including fixing leaks, replacing damaged sections, and reinforcing weak areas. Cleanup: Clean the work area and dispose of waste materials at the end of each workday. Communication: Maintain effective communication with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure a smooth workflow. Learning and Growth: Take the opportunity to learn and improve roofing skills through on-the-job training and by observing experienced roofer Area of specialization • Shingled roofs • Skylights • Modified roofing • Hot Work- Heat welding, open flames and sparks • Welding • Repairs and retrofit Certificates, Licenses, Memberships, and Courses: • First Aid (Level 1 and Level 3 an asset) • WHMIS • Fall Arrest Protection and Safety Training Course Requirements: • Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demanding nature of the job, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights. • Ability to follow instructions carefully and work effectively as part of a team. • Basic knowledge of roofing materials, tools, and techniques is beneficial but not always required, as on-the-job training is common. • Safety-conscious mindset and willingness to comply with all safety regulations and procedures. • Reliable and punctual, as roofing projects often operate on tight schedules. • Flexibility to work outdoors in various weather conditions. • A valid driver's license might be required in some cases to transport materials to and from job sites.
